PLACENTIA

Officials at the six Placentia and Yorba Linda schools the state declared were performing below state standards have decided not to apply for a state grant for intervention because they didn’t have time to consult with their teachers before filing the application.

Missing the state’s Aug. 26 deadline for the intervention grant will mean that the schools will not qualify for the $50,000 state grants--which the school district would have had to match--in order to pay for an outside consultant to evaluate their programs.

The schools listed by the state as needing intervention are Rio Vista, Ruby Drive, Topaz and John O. Tynes elementary schools; Kraemer Middle School and Valencia High School.
