Seattle-based Boeing Co. and its largest union reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract, averting a likely strike that would have idled 44,000 of the aerospace giant’s 207,000 workers. The deal, which still must be ratified by rank-and-file members of the Machinists union, was described as the richest in the industry, offering workers an 11% increase in basic pay over three years plus a 10% signing bonus.
