Gov. Davis on Prop. 5

Share

* The seven judges on the state Supreme Court vote 6-1 to overturn Proposition 5 (Aug. 24) and Gov. Gray Davis vows to fight “diligently to find a constitutionally acceptable means of implementing the people’s expressed will.” Excuse me, is this not the same gutless politico who thumbed his nose at the people’s “expressed will” and rolled over and played dead when faced with only a single judge’s decision on Proposition 187?

* Davis is quoted as saying he would abide by the court’s decision overturning the Indian gaming initiative, but also would try to find a way to enforce the will of voters who approved Proposition 5. Gov. Davis, where has your willingness been to implement the people’s expressed will in passing Proposition 187 overwhelmingly?

Since California Indian tribes have been major campaign contributors to Davis, it again provides the voters great insight as to when the will of the people will be supported by the politicians.

* If some judges can throw out Proposition 187 and Proposition 5, why bother to vote?
