Prop. 5 Ruling
Re Proposition 5: I would like to make two points about the court ruling. It seems that just about every initiative voted in by the people of California is taken to court and ruled unconstitutional. It appears that popular mandates mean absolutely nothing. Do we live in a democracy? I am not sure.
I would like to see the Constitution amended to allow gambling in California. Nevada has the lowest tax rate per capita of all the states. With California being pressed for revenues and the people voting in gambling on reservations, why not just legalize it throughout the state. This would create billions of dollars in construction, billions of dollars in additional tourism and billions of additional tax dollars to pay for education, helping the elderly, etc.
