* GetMusic, an online music venture of BMG Entertainment and Universal Music Group, said it named Andrew Nibley, head of Reuters Group’s Internet media unit, its chief executive and president effective Oct. 1.

* Microsoft Corp. said it restored its Hotmail e-mail service after a two-hour shutdown caused by a security breach that allowed unauthorized access to the accounts of the service’s 40 million users. Microsoft suspended customer access to the e-mail after computer hackers posted a special set of codes on several Internet sites that allowed a user to access Hotmail accounts by typing in just the user name without a password.

* A federal judge in Detroit ordered back online parts of a Web site run by a Ford Mustang enthusiast who the auto maker said improperly leaked secret business strategy and future product plans. The judge said she needed to do more research on trade secrets and copyright on the Internet before ruling on Ford’s request to have the Web site, run by Robert Lane, shut down. Ford won a temporary restraining order last week, forcing shutdown of the site.
