Students at Rossmoor Elementary School were introduced to Vincent Van Gogh last month, thanks to a new PTA program called Meet the Masters. Both students and teachers are learning facts about the artist and being taught by a private art group to emulate his techniques. Each grade undergoes a workshop that focuses on an artist and is geared to its students’ level of understanding. Kindergartners learned that Van Gogh painted constantly and often stuck a candle in his straw hat so he could work at night. “Arts education is a really important part of a well-rounded program,” Principal Laurel Telfer said. “We know that you can reach many children through the arts.”
