Former mayoral candidate Clint Reilly endorsed Board of Supervisors President Tom Ammiano on Wednesday.

“I may not necessarily agree with Tom Ammiano on every issue,” Reilly said, “but I believe on the core issues of integrity and commitment to the long-term public interest, Tom Ammiano is far and away the best choice for mayor of San Francisco.”

Ammiano faces Mayor Willie Brown in a Dec. 14 runoff.

Meanwhile, former Mayor Frank Jordan’s endorsement remained a mystery. Jordan abruptly canceled a Wednesday news conference, where, KRON-TV reported, he was expected to endorse Ammiano.

Jordan placed third in the Nov. 2 general election. Reilly, a political consultant, finished fourth.

Brown dismissed Reilly’s announcement as inconsequential. “I would doubt that very many voters would be persuaded to vote against me on the basis of what Mr. Reilly says,” he said.
