No. 7 Rutgers Shuts Down Ohio State

Tasha Pointer had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 7-ranked Rutgers over Ohio State, 46-35, Wednesday at Columbus, Ohio. Christina Fowler added 11 points for Rutgers (3-1). Michaela Moua led Ohio State (2-2) with 12 points. Rutgers held the Buckeyes scoreless for nearly six minutes in the second half.

No. 11 Notre Dame 77, Butler 57--Freshman Alicia Ratay scored 16 points as the Irish coasted in their home opener at South Bend, Ind. Center Ruth Riley added 14 points and seven blocked shots in 19 minutes for Notre Dame (2-1), which broke away with a 16-0 run midway through the first half. Butler made only 26% of its field-goal attempts. Kelly Kuhn paced Butler (3-2) with 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

No. 25 Wisconsin 66, Wisconsin Green Bay 56--LaTonya Sims had 17 points and nine rebounds as the Badgers won at Green Bay, Wis. Nina Smith added 15 points and Jess Stomski 14 for the Badgers (4-1). Green Bay’s Anne Warden sank a three-point shot and added two other field goals to give her team a 49-47 lead with 8:41 remaining, but Tamara Moore made a layup and Sims scored on a three-point shot to put Wisconsin ahead to stay. Still, Green Bay (1-4), an NCAA playoff team last season, was within two points with 3:50 left, before the Badgers took command, 62-54, on two jump shots by Smith and one by Stomski.
