More Tours, in Time for the Holidays

Los Angeles’ Fashion District is one of those places that many people know about but often avoid because of its confusing layout. Just in time for the holidays, the Fashion District is expanding its free trolley service, with two 45-minute tours at 10 and 11:30 a.m. the next three Saturdays (Saturday and Dec. 11 and 18). The tour, which leaves from the CaliforniaMart Building, provides an overview of retail stores, wholesale outlets, marketplaces and the Flower Mart. CalMart is at 110 E. 9th St., Los Angeles. Latina beauty--The fashion and lifestyle magazine Latina has signed a deal with Hyperion to publish a beauty book for Latinas. The book, scheduled to be published next fall, will contain tips on makeup, hair, clothing and skin care for the wide range of looks in the Latina community.

The monthly magazine’s staff has “tapped into a hungry market that they knew was being ignored,” Martha K. Levin, vice president and publisher of Hyperion, said in a statement. “Their celebration of Latinas has helped fan the flames of one of the most exciting phenomena that will help define what we think of as American culture in the next century.”
