Proposition 22

Re letters on the Knight initiative, Nov. 29: As I understand it, California already has a law on the books banning any marriages in California that are not solely between one man and one woman. Prop. 22 only prevents two people from going to some other state where “homosexual marriages” are permitted to get “married” and then coming back to California to collect benefits from the taxpayers that they could not collect if they tried to get “married” here.
We already have many people who claim to be “married.” If that is what they want to call it, that is their own business. They just have no right to make us pay for what most of us do not consider proper.
