A Real Treat

Share

When the beloved Los Angeles candy shop Bit of Sweetland closed in 1985, Alajos Jambor’s daughter, Katalin Corbin, went on to open Jerbeau Chocolate Co. in Camarillo, which has become known for clever packaging, such as chocolate-filled Christmas ornaments. But the really remarkable thing is the high quality of Corbin’s chocolate itself.

Her latest concoction is a cross between a traditional chocolate and a chocolate truffle. Juffles, as she calls them, come in four flavors--dark chocolate, orange, cappuccino and peanut butter--and we had a hard time keeping enough of them on hand to photograph (sorry, we couldn’t save any of the cappuccinos). Naturally, they’re sold in a unique pyramidal box.

Juffles, 6-ounce box $7, 12-ounce $12, at Gelson’s and Bristol Farms markets, or call (800) 755-3723; https://www.jerbeau.com.
