Construction is proceeding as scheduled on the $1.3-million renovation of the main library building, library Director Albert J. Milo said Monday. All the asbestos has been removed from the site, and construction has begun on the children’s section of the library, which is being expanded.

The project, which includes the construction of a new main entrance and the addition of computer terminals, is due to be completed in late April. Patrons have had no problem using a new temporary entrance, Milo said, and new Sunday hours have proved popular. Library officials will discuss the feasibility of keeping the building open on Sundays permanently this spring, Milo said.
