MISSION VIEJO
Responding to the concerns of a number of residents with a wide range of opinions on the subject, the City Council voted 4 to 0 on Monday to install filtering devices on two of the four computers with Internet access in the children’s section of the library.
Councilman John Paul Ledesma proposed installing the filters on all of the computers in the children’s section at a council meeting Oct. 18. The library’s existing policy, which requires that a parent be present for children under the age of 18 to receive a library card, will remain in place.
When signing up for the cards, parents will have the choice of allowing their children filtered or unfiltered access to the Internet.
