U.S.-Iran Encounter Part of Doubleheader

U.S. Soccer will announce Friday that the USA-Iran soccer match at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 16 will be played as part of a doubleheader. The U.S. under-23 national team--the 2000 Olympic team in training--will play Armenia in the second game.

So far, more than 26,000 tickets have been sold for the event, which will be Iran’s debut in the U.S. and the first meeting between the countries since the 1998 World Cup.
