At the urging of local swim clubs, the Community Services Commission has championed initial plans to fully renovate Heritage Park Aquatic Complex instead of simply bring it up to code.

Although the new design plans would add $1.6 million to the $7-million budget, commissioners insisted last week that the 21-year-old, substandard complex, which houses the city’s only public pools, should be fully rehabilitated.
