UCI Stumbles in 2nd Half, Loses
Tekeniesha Henry had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Stephen F. Austin past UC Irvine, 75-56, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Shawnta Johnson had 17 points and Stephanie Whitmore had 13 points and six assists for Stephen F. Austin (6-2).
Megan Stafford had 21 points for Irvine (4-3), which trailed by one point at halftime. Stephen F. Austin outscored Irvine in the second half, 43-25.
In another nonconference game:
Santa Clara 94, CS Fullerton 70--Becki Ashbaugh had 19 points for visiting Santa Clara (8-0), which led by 16 points at halftime. Kandace Hunter scored 20 points for Fullerton (0-6).
UCLA, ranked eighth in the nation, plays at Fullerton Friday.
