Boeing Co. said it has received an order for 15 of its short-hop 717-200 jetliners from Pembroke, a Dublin, Ireland-based aircraft financing and management group. Pembroke also has options to buy 15 more of the 106-seat airplanes. Terms of the order were not announced, but if all 30 planes were purchased, the deal would be worth about $1 billion. The first delivery is due in August. Pembroke manages a fleet of more than 115 planes leased to 30 operators in more than 20 countries. Seattle-based Boeing’s shares rose 31 cents to close at $38.50 on the New York Stock Exchange. Separately, Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways ordered three Airbus Industrie A330-300 jets and will hire 500 more cabin crew members as demand for travel in Asia picks up.
