The City Council has approved the required permits that will allow a developer to build a shopping center that will join two lots in the 300 block of El Camino Real.
An existing building at 223 El Camino Real will be demolished and replaced with landscaping and the parking lot for the project. The service station, which sits at 305 El Camino Real, will be developed with the new structures built around a pedestrian plaza.
The center will include several retail stores and a nearly 1,500-square-foot Togo’s eatery. The council, concerned that another fast-food franchise someday replacing Togo’s, will require any new restaurant operator to apply for another conditional-use permit before opening at the center.
