Duke Wins in Rout, but Krzyzewski’s Unhappy

Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski has little patience for bad habits. He let his team know about it after a 101-60 victory over North Carolina A&T; at Durham, N.C., on Sunday.
“Every game is important to me,” said Krzyzewski, who took an extra 20 minutes getting to the postgame interview after lecturing his players despite a 41-point victory over the Aggies (1-6).
“This is what I do. I want it to be great every time we go out on the court.
“These kids have responded to the need, and if they perceived they were going to win maybe they didn’t perceive the need.
“I didn’t sense that need for one another today and that’s a bad habit to get into.”
Chris Carrawell characterized the 11th-ranked team’s postgame meeting as being “like hell.”
All of this after Carrawell scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had six assists as Duke (7-2) easily won its seventh consecutive game.
Duke broke open a close game with a 17-0 run late in the first half while improving to 124-2 against non-conference teams in Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1983.
The Aggies trailed, 28-24, with 6:24 left in the first half, but were doomed by 16 first-half turnovers and 35% shooting.
“We talked before the game and said we can’t do things that are going to help Duke beat us,” Aggie Coach Curtis Hunter said.
“We were making careless passes and trying to do things we shouldn’t have been doing and making the game easy.”
No. 9 Florida 109, High Point 60--Mike Miller led seven Gators (7-1) in double figures with 20 points as they breezed past the Panthers (5-3) at Gainesville, Fla.

The Gators led, 54-29, at halftime and opened the second half with a 25-5 run.
No. 12 Ohio State 72, Eastern Kentucky 40--Ken Johnson blocked eight shots, one short of the Buckeye record, and five Buckeyes scored in double figures in a blowout at Columbus, Ohio.
The Colonels (4-2), who came in making 49% of their shots from the field, managed only 15 field goals in 62 attempts as Ohio State (5-2) blocked 13 shots.
Michael Redd, Scoonie Penn and George Reese each scored 11 points and Brian Brown and Brent Darby had 10 apiece for the Buckeyes.
No. 22 Gonzaga 88, Montana 70--Richie Frahm and Matt Santangelo scored 15 points each to lead the Bulldogs (7-2) past the Grizzlies (3-6) at Spokane, Wash., for their 13th consecutive home victory.
Gonzaga led, 42-37, at halftime, and the second half began slowly with a flurry of missed shots by both teams. But three-pointers by Mike Nilson and Frahm helped Gonzaga take a 56-42 lead.
An 8-0 run brought Montana to within 56-50 with 11:20 left in the game.
But that was the Grizzlies’ last challenge. Frahm’s three-pointer capped a 7-0 run that rebuilt Gonzaga’s lead to 63-50.
