The Fullerton Railway Plaza Assn. will ask for the Redevelopment Agency’s approval to seek a $30,000 state grant at tonight’s City Council meeting. The funding would be used in part to cover the cost of a feasibility study for the proposed development of a railway museum and other rail-related attractions in downtown Fullerton.

The state already had earmarked the funds for the Railway Plaza Assn. about six months ago, but the group still must go through an application process to receive the money, which will come from the state’s park and recreation budget, said Terry Galvin, the city’s redevelopment operations manager.

The money also will be used to pay for an architect’s study and the purchase of a building on Fullerton Transportation Center property, which would be used to house museum offices.

The Railway Assn.’s plans include a 40,000-square-foot museum and a 200,000-square-foot commercial/restaurant area.

The City Council will meet at 4 p.m. in the chambers, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.
