2 Men Charged in Theft of Gifts at Wedding Party
Two men who allegedly stole armloads of gifts from a Huntington Beach couple at their wedding were charged with grand theft Tuesday, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said.
Shane Doug Guy, 31, and Christopher Evans Fotiades, 31, both of Irvine are accused of loading more than $1,400 worth of martini mixers and glasses, greeting cards, a vase, a silver platter and other items into their car May 15 during a wedding reception at the Mountaingate Country Club in Brentwood.
The grand theft charge alleges that the two men, co-workers of the bride, later exchanged some of the gifts for other items, Deputy City Atty. Elizabeth Gertz said.
The married couple reported the theft after returning from their honeymoon and realizing gifts were missing. Gertz said that wedding guests had seen the men loading gifts into their car.
