Sales Tax

I’m for a return to a more progressive income tax. But I’m for one sales tax that Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) doesn’t mention in his proposed national sales tax replacement of the income tax (Dec. 18).
How about a one-tenth of 1% tax on the sale of stocks and bonds? That would pay for all our kids’ denied needs for health care, child care and education and a meaningful minimum income for their parents in the richest nation in history with the grossest maldistribution of wealth and power of industrial democracies.
