The Police Department will be operating a special DUI checkpoint today from 1 to 11 p.m. Sgt. Raul Luna said that there is traditionally a rash of office Christmas parties on Dec. 23 and that the early-hour checkpoint is designed to catch those drivers who began drinking early in the day. The checkpoint will be staffed by Santa Ana police and the California Highway Patrol.
