LEOMINSTER, Mass. — One pilot was killed and another seriously injured when their small planes collided Wednesday in the sky near a municipal airport.
One plane was trying to land while another was flying through the area when they collided and crashed on top of each other, said Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The planes narrowly missed a house.
One of the planes was registered to Daniel Webster College, a college of 500 students in Nashua, N.H., that offers degrees in aviation, according to a spokesman at the school.
Flying the plane was a college freshman, Michael Egan, 19, of Warrensburg, N.Y., said college spokesman Dan Seufert. Seufert said Egan had bruises to his knees and face but no life-threatening injuries. The identity of the dead pilot was not released.
