A company hired to improve local parks lost its contract with the city after falling months behind its original schedule.

City officials produced a long list of complaints about Irvine-based Emsico Inc. at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The problems date back to June, when the city hired the company to make nearly $780,000 worth of improvements to 16 of Lake Forest’s 17 parks.

The company had agreed to add benches, shelters and signs to some parks and build access ramps, walkways and additional parking at certain parks.

The company originally agreed to finish all work by October. But a spokesman told the council last week that completion of the projects was still about a month away.

Company officials denied some of the charges that were made Tuesday.
