Let the Mouse Do the Work for Your Party

Share

If you’re one of those hosts or hostesses who can’t quite pull it together, the Internet is for you. There are sites such as Evite.com, which will not only e-mail your guests a snazzy computer invitation but also provide you with theme ideas, such as the “I Survived Y2K Party” (to be held Feb. 1). You’ll mostly be on your own for planning nibbles and drinks as well as for party decorations (that’s more Martha’s territory, don’t you think?), though you can link to Iparty.com, which sells party kits.

But the folks at Evite, a privately held company in San Francisco, think they’ll save you the time and hassles of phoning and mailing invitations. A few mouse clicks and one invitation goes to many. The site will tally your RSVPs and create a Web page just for party guests. It’s totally tech and 2000, wouldn’t you say? We just wonder about the friend you want to invite who doesn’t have a computer.
