BizRate.com Taps Ex-Disney Officer

* Los Angeles-based BizRate.com has named Chuck Davis, former president of e-commerce for Walt Disney Co.’s Go.com unit, as its chief executive and president. BizRate.com is an Internet site that collects consumer feedback and then sells the data as market research to other companies.

* MetaCreations Corp., a Carpinteria-based graphics software maker, has named Howard Morgan, senior officer and vice chairman of the Internet business incubator Idealab in Pasadena, to the position of chairman for MetaCreations’ Internet subsidiary, MetaStream.com. Morgan currently serves on the board of directors of several Internet companies, including Tickets.com, MyPoints.com and CarsDirect.com.

The company also announced that Terance Kinninger is resigning as its chief financial officer. Earlier this month, MetaCreations Chief Executive Gary Lauer resigned after the company warned of a large loss for the latest quarter and announced layoffs of half of its work force. Jay Jennings, vice president of finance, will assume Kinniger’s responsibilities until a replacement is named.
