New General Services Director Named
John Johnston, a deputy director in Ventura County’s General Services Agency, has been appointed its director, supervisors announced Tuesday.
His annual salary will be about $92,000.
He will oversee the agency, which handles the purchase and maintenance of office furnishings, landscaping, vehicles and parks, as well as risk management and employee injury education.
From 1974 to 1985, Johnston worked as director of the county’s Support Services Agency. He left for a job as a Los Angeles Superior Court deputy executive officer.
Johnston, who has more than 30 years experience in management positions in public and private administrations, returned to the county about a year ago as deputy director of the agency’s parks division.
