Navco Security Buys American Cabling

Hoping to expand its line of services, Anaheim-based manufacturer Navco Security Systems said it has acquired American Cabling & Communications Inc. in Orange for an undisclosed sum. The cash deal, which has turned American Cabling into a wholly owned subsidiary of Navco, has been in the works for three months, said Navco officials.

Navco makes and installs security systems for businesses, including closed-circuit TV monitors and alarm systems that are connected to digital networks. American Cabling specializes in integrating computer networks, including ones that are used to run security systems. Both companies are privately held.

Navco, which has a staff of 175, had about $30 million in sales last year. American Cabling, which employs about 40 people, reported about $6 million in revenue in 1998. Both companies expect to hire additional staff because of the merger.
