Troy Robinson, lead vocalist and front man for Caught Red-Handed, will be the featured guest entertainer Saturday night at the Ban-Dar, Ventura County’s oldest country nightclub.

“On nights when I’m not singing with Caught Red-Handed, Johnny wants me to take over the Desperados and perform there [at the Ban-Dar],” Robinson said.

But don’t expect to see the usual lineup of the Desperados, Ban-Dar’s house band. Because club owner Johnny Mosby lets Robinson invite his buddies to back him up on stage.

“When I’m there, I want to play with people who I know and who are familiar with my music,” he said. The guys with guitars will be Jim Monahan, a left-handed wonder; Lee Rollag, guitar and fiddle; and Rick Cathaway, a regular. “It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Robinson will also showcase tracks from “Miami Nights,” a CD of original songs he recently recorded as a solo artist.

Show time is 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Caught Red-Handed will perform at the Ban-Dar on Feb. 19. The club, at 3005 E. Main St. in Ventura, features live country and country-rock music Tuesday through Saturday. For information, call 653-9176.
