Hearings Planned on Public Transit Needs
Ventura County residents frustrated with the area’s public transportation systems will have a chance to address transit officials Monday afternoon at a meeting in Camarillo.
The Ventura County Transportation Commission will hold its annual “Unmet Transit Needs” hearings from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and again Feb. 18 at the Camarillo City Council chambers, 601 Carmen Drive.
Residents are invited to give their opinions about transit in Ventura County --about what works and what doesn’t.
They can also call the commission at (800) 438-1112, send e-mail to vctc2@fishnet.net or send letters to VCTC Unmet Transit Needs, Suite 207, 950 County Square Drive, Ventura 93003.
The commission will accept comments through Feb. 18. Residents are encouraged to give as much detail as possible.
Maureen Hooper Lopez, county director of transit programs, said the commission will use the feedback to improve bus service beginning in July.
Previous hearings have led to expanding evening service for buses in western Ventura County, as well as a more coordinated transportation system between cities.
