Social Distortion’s Mike Ness got buddies Bruce Springsteen and Brian Setzer to help out on his first solo album, which explores Ness’ rock and country roots, due April 13. Springsteen, who has been a friend and fan for about 10 years, sings on the edgy rocker “Misery Loves Company.” . . .

Dave Matthews has done some guest sessions on Carlos Santana’s upcoming album. Wyclef Jean has also worked on a song with Santana, as has his Fugees mate Lauryn Hill, who wrote and produced a track. . . .

Randy Newman’s first album for DreamWorks Records is done, with Mitchell Froom producing. Tentatively titled “Bad Love,” it’s due in May. . . . Actor Patrick Stewart narrated “Back to the Centre of the Earth,” former Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman’s follow-up to his 1974 prog-rock epic of Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Centre of the Earth,” due for U.S. release April 20. Ozzy Osbourne, the Moody Blues’ Justin Hayward and Katrina Leskanic (of Katrina & the Waves) contributed vocal parts. . . .

The band Tonic is releasing a “Live and Enhanced” EP, available only through its Web site, https://www.tonic-online.com, starting this week. It features an acoustic version of the hit “If You Could Only See” and live performances, plus CD-ROM video concert footage. . . .

A reference last week to the Joint at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel mistakenly identified the club as being at the Hard Rock Cafe. The two are separate businesses at different locations.
