The City Council tonight will consider increasing the city’s annual budget by $330,980 to pursue its plans for the Headlands.

The city had budgeted $315,000 for legal services to fight developer Sanford Edward’s design. With the filing of an appeal last week to the California Supreme Court, officials are budgeting another $250,000 in legal fees. In addition, the city had employed an independent contractor at $68,000 a year to manage the Headlands project and proposes hiring a full-time analyst for the job at $83,890. The remainder is needed for responses to the city’s environmental impact report. The total Headlands budget will come to $1,023,062 this year.

The council meets at 6:30 p.m. in chambers, 33282 Golden Lantern, Suite 210. Information: (949) 248-9890.
