The city’s two police captains are serving as interim chiefs while the Police Department searches for a new leader. Former Police Chief Steven H. Staveley left in January to take a position as director of the state’s Division of Law Enforcement. Capt. John Rees and Capt. Terry Rammell each will fill in for two months. The City Council last week decided to hire an executive search firm to recruit throughout the Western United States. The firm, Norm Roberts, will be paid $15,000 for the search, which is expected to take four months.
