Batter up! And catcher, pitcher and shortstop.

Young people ages 7 to 15 have a chance to get baseball tips from the pros Saturday when players from several major league farm teams come to Sunnyslope Field in Pacoima for “The Great American Spring Training.”

As many as 250 youngsters, on a first-come, first-served basis, will receive free lunch, T-shirts and caps, as well as professional advice from players representing the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins.

Sign-up begins at 9 a.m., with a clinic at 9:30. After a 12:30 p.m. picnic lunch on the field, an informal game will be held, teaming the pros with selected youngsters.
