NEWPORT BEACH
Irvine Co. officials have submitted a request to begin a general plan amendment for the build out of Newport Center. The proposal calls for more store space and offices at Fashion Island. The filing was in response to a City Council request that the company present its long-term plans.
The Planning Commission today will consider the request, which, if approved by the council, will allow the company to study adding 720,000 square feet of new commercial space--a 15% increase.
