Injuries Force Pushor to Take a Seat Again

Defenseman Jamie Pushor was sidelined for the second consecutive game, sitting out Wednesday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers because of a bruised left shoulder and chest.

Injured in the third period of Sunday’s violent 5-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes, Pushor said one of his ribs also was dislocated, but that it quickly popped back into place.

“It’s pretty sore,” Pushor said of his shoulder and chest. “I can’t shoot the puck. I can’t bear down. When there are healthy bodies to play, you don’t want to play if you’re not 100%.”

Marty McSorley and the Oilers are reportedly close to a one-year, $1.3-million contract extension. It’s expected the Oilers will then leave McSorley unprotected for the expansion draft.
