From Times Wire Reports

Ted Turner apologized for telling a Polish joke in reference to Pope John Paul II and for suggesting the ban on adultery should be dropped from the Ten Commandments. A Turner spokesman in Atlanta said in a statement that Turner “regrets any offense his comments may have caused . . . and extends his heartfelt apologies.” The vice chairman of Time Warner Inc. made his remarks Tuesday while addressing the National Family Planning and Reproductive Assn. in Washington. When asked what he would say if he ever met the pope, Turner said, “Ever seen a Polish mine detector?” He then showed the audience his foot, said an association spokeswoman.
