Salonen’s Timing

I suppose Esa-Pekka Salonen’s donation of $100,000 to Disney Hall guarantees the renewal of his contract in 2002 (“Donation Affirm’s Salonen’s L.A. Commitment,” by Diane Haithman, Feb. 3). Only 10 years? It feels like 50. Please give him his money back.

Please encourage him to visit these “other orchestras” that are courting him. Let’s get back to music and a conductor who enjoys it.
