The Pacific Exchange has asked the SEC to let its equities specialists conduct their activities by computer from off the exchange floor. The move, if approved by the SEC, could be a first step toward phasing out the exchange’s equity trading floors in Los Angeles and San Francisco and replacing them with a computerized market.
