Buena Park Eviction Law Criticized
* Re “Buena Park Law Is a Relief to Fearful Tenants,” Feb. 11:
It is the law people should fear, because it is both irrational and unconstitutional.
Evicting a person or family, children included, on presumed guilt--and not conviction--is absolutely unconstitutional.
It seems the law is irrational also. One resident was quoted as saying, “There are many people that are bad.” I think I have some bad neighbors too. But that’s not enough to evict people and families out of their homes who may be guilty of no crime.
This is a very old law, tried in a lawless, irrational and fearful place called Salem, Mass.
