The city’s animal lovers got some good news this week after council members agreed to support those pursuing a new shelter that will ban the extermination of stray animals. Council members decided to continue the city’s contract with the Dover Shores Pet Care Center after Tailwaggers Adoption Group Services gathered more than 2,000 signatures in support of a shelter with a “no-kill” policy. Customers who adopt the animals pay the costs involved, but critics say this system does not offer the best possible solution to animal overpopulation.
