More people than ever want to get involved in serving on city commissions. Twenty-eight residents have applied for 19 seats and four alternate positions on the city’s Planning and Community Services Commission, Housing and Community Development Advisory Board, Traffic Committee and the Advisory Board on the Disabled. In contrast, 18 people applied last year.

But this year also marks the first time the city has asked committee incumbents to apply for their two-year positions again. Thirteen of the applicants are incumbents.

Council members expect to finish interviewing candidates by March 2, when they will announce the new members, whose terms will begin immediately.
