Datum, Beating Estimates, Sees Stock Jump

Datum Inc. shares leaped 25% on Friday, a day after the Irvine maker of precision timing products beat analysts’ projections by posting a small profit for the fourth quarter. The company said it earned 1 cent a share in the final three months. Analysts had anticipated a loss of 7 cents a share, according to a First Call survey. The shares moved up $1.69 to $8.44 on Friday, on volume of 606,000 shares, more than 11 times the daily average over the last three months. At one point during trading, the stock hit $9 a share.
