GARDENA — Law enforcement veteran Michael J. Skogh has been named Gardena chief of police, city officials announced this week.
Skogh, who has been police chief in Los Alamitos since 1994, will assume his new post March 15, said Gardena City Manager Mitchell G. Lansdell.
The new chief has more than 30 years’ law enforcement experience, working for the cities of Orange, Azusa and Manhattan Beach.
Lansdell said Skogh was chosen for “his demonstrated leadership commitment to community-based policing and the ongoing education and training for all police officers, as well as his exceptional leadership qualities.”
