PacifiCare Promotes Two Top Execs
Mary Langsdorf has been appointed senior vice president of finance and corporate controller for PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. in Santa Ana. Langsdorf, who joined the company in 1988 as corporate accounting manager, had been vice president and corporate controller since 1996. In addition, Susan Berkel was named vice president of finance and assistant controller. She joined PacifiCare in 1993 as a financial reporting manager and was later appointed finance director.
Raphael Henkin has been named president of Del Mar Medical Systems in Irvine, a division of Del Mar Avionics. He was formerly vice president of technology and business development.
Raymond F. Sanford has been named vice president/retail manager for Eldorado Bank. He will be based in the Tustin branch.
Randy Halle has been named chief executive of Management Action Programs in Newport Beach, a management consulting firm. He succeeds Dan Stevenson, who will continue as chairman. Halle was appointed president last June.
Lori Ward-Jackson has been appointed community relations director of Ladera Ranch Community Services for the Ladera Ranch master-planned community in San Juan Capistrano, scheduled to open this summer. She was formerly public/community relations assistant with the Oakland Raiders.
James J. Scheinkman has been appointed 1999 section chairman for the Orange County Bar Assn.’s business and corporate law section. He is an attorney with the Busch Firm in Irvine.
Robert Braun and Robert D. Keeler have been named senior associate partners for Langdon Wilson Architecture in Irvine. Braun, director of design, and Keeler had been associate partners.
Joan Penfil has joined the law firm of Tredway, Lumsdaine & Doyle in Irvine as a family law attorney. She was previously an attorney for Buxbaum & Chakmak in Irvine.
Gilbert W. Thweatt has joined Boyle Engineering Corp. in Newport Beach as director of architecture. He had been principal-in-charge of the Irvine office of AC Martin Partners. Before that, Thweatt was a principal and senior vice president at 3D International, an architectural and engineering firm in Houston.
Marios Savopoulos has been named a principal and director of design for entertainment-related projects for Perkowitz and Ruth Architects Inc. He will continue as manager of the Newport Beach office. Savopoulos, who had been a senior associate, has been with the firm for five years.
Ted Rommel has been elected to the board of directors and named vice president of Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate Services’ Irvine office. Rommel joined Lee & Associates in 1991 from the Irvine office of Iliff Thorn & Co.
Greg McKhann has been appointed director of marketing for Odetics ITS Inc. in Anaheim, a 93%-owned subsidiary of Odetics Inc. He had been marketing manager. Before joining the company in 1997, McKhann was business development manager for Rockwell International.
Steve Varonka has been named president of PTC Industries Inc., a La Habra manufacturer and distributor of carts, cabinets and metal laminates. He was formerly vice president and general manager. Varonka has been with the company nearly 10 years, in positions ranging from sales manager to vice president of operations.
Robert F. Gilbane has been appointed president of GemChem Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Newport Beach-based American Vanguard Corp. Gilbane, a co-founder of the firm, had been executive vice president and treasurer. Glen D. Johnson has been named senior vice president and director of business development for Amvac Chemical Corp., also a subsidiary. Before joining the company, he was the North American senior marketing manager for contract sales at Zeneca Ag Products.
Dirk D. Wakeham has been named senior vice president of the 3Plus subsidiary of Western National Group in Irvine. He will oversee the business development, operations and management of the company’s ancillary services business, which provides telecommunications, insurance and utility management services to apartment residents and property owners. Wakeham previously served in various capacities, including vice president of RGS Services and vice president of management information systems.
Ron Nelson has joined RiechesBaird Advertising in Irvine as senior account executive. He was previously director of client services for Morris Advertising in Newport Beach, and before that, vice president of client services at Morrison, Lee and Stevens.
Mark E. Mathews has been named vice president of marketing for Toshiba America Information Systems’ electronic imaging division. He had been director of product marketing. Mathews joined Toshiba in 1993 as senior products manager.
Robert Williams, director of project management, has been appointed senior associate at the Newport Beach office of Gensler, an architecture, design and planning firm. Williams, who joined the firm in 1989, is responsible for coaching all project managers in planning and management.
