SECRETARY OF STATE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS: Aileen Adams. Previously director of Office for Victims of Crime in the U.S. Dept. of Justice; president, Los Angeles County Fire Commission; chair of California Consumer Advisory Council; legal counsel to Santa Monica Rape and Treatment Center; deputy to Los Angeles City Atty. Burt Pines.

SECRETARY OF BUSINESS, TRANSPORTATION AND HOUSING: Maria Contreras-Sweet. Previously president of Contreras-Sweet Co., a corporate consulting group; vice president, Westinghouse; corporate executive at 7-Up/RC Bottling Co.; founding president of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality.

SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE: William J. Lyons. Previously vice president, state Federation of Labor; member of Alameda County Central Labor Council.

SECRETARY OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION: Gary Hart. Previously state senator from Santa Barbara and chairman of the Senate Education Committee; high school teacher; coordinator of the Institute for Education Reform of California State University.

SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND WELFARE: Grantland Johnson. Previously regional head of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services; Sacramento County supervisor.

DEPT. OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS: Steve Smith. Previously lobbyist for the California State Employees Assn.; deputy manager for Davis gubernatorial campaign.

SECRETARY OF TRADE AND COMMERCE: Lon Hatamiya. Previously head of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Marketing Service and Foreign Agriculture Service.

SECRETARY OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY: Winston H. Hickox. Previously special assistant to undersecretary for environmental affairs under Gov. Jerry Brown; president of California League of Conservation Voters; managing director for LaSalle Advisors Ltd., a real estate investment firm; board member of Sacramento County Employees Retirement System.

DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS: James R. Ramos. Founded Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Network; owner of James R. Ramos Associates, a technical consulting firm; served in Army Signal Corps in Vietnam.

SECRETARY OF YOUTH AND ADULT CORRECTIONAL AGENCY: Robert Presley. Previously state senator from Riverside and chairman of Appropriations Committee as well as Joint Prison Committee; undersheriff of Riverside County; chairman of Youthful Offender Parole Board.
