The Planning Commission tonight will once again consider an ordinance to regulate landscaping at Lake Mission Viejo. The city has been trying for more than a year to force the Lake Mission Viejo Assn. to remove oleanders that grow on the lake’s south shore. The city contends the shrubs could grow high enough to block views of the artificial lake from Alicia Parkway.

City planners and lake association officials reached a compromise shortly after the commission approved an ordinance in November limiting landscaping to 18 inches. The City Council, fearing the compromise might still result in blocked views, referred the matter back to the commission for further consideration. The commission meets tonight at 7 p.m., 25909 Pala, Suite 150. Information: (949) 470-3000.
