Pinkerton’s Security Service Acquires Germany’s HBI

Pinkerton’s Inc., based in Westlake Village, announced the acquisition of HBI SicherheittsDienste GmbH & Co., KG headquartered in Offenbach, Germany, for an undisclosed sum.

HBI is a leading security services provider to businesses throughout Hessen, the central industrial state surrounding Frankfurt, a preferred location for American businesses and an important European banking center, the Pinkerton’s announcement said. HBI’s 1998 revenues are expected to be about $18.7 million, Pinkerton’s said.

“Geographically, Pinkerton’s expansion into Hessen complements our existing operation in southern Germany, which is one of our most successful operating units,” Pinkerton’s president and CEO Denis R. Brown said in a written statement.

Pinkerton’s also recently acquired the secure transport division of Kemptener Wach & Schliess GmbH , expanding Pinkerton’s cash-in-transit operation into southern Germany to the Austrian border.

Founded in 1850 by Allan Pinkerton, the security company now has revenues exceeding $1 billion and 250 offices worldwide.
