Declaring Shenanigans

Finally, someone’s sticking up for Kenny. The Dayton, Ohio-based Christian Family Network is going into a third printing of its “ ‘South Park’ Education / Action Guide,” which explains to parents what’s really going on in the Comedy Central cartoon.

Initial reports about “South Park”--each episode including a bizarre and fresh death for 8-year-old Kenny--caught the group’s attention last spring.

“We decided to take an intensive look at it,” said CFN’s executive director, Melody Morris. “We found that parents were clueless about what the content was, and kids knew everything about it. They knew the story lines.”

CFN published its guidebook in June. About 30 pages long, the guide includes such chapters as “South Park--the Poisoning of Our Youth” and “Anti-Christian Issue Analysis.”

“We’ve gotten a lot of flak, e-mail, from juveniles,” Morris said. “That’s to be anticipated. You don’t do something like this and expect everyone to smile at you.”

The guide is available through the Christian Family Network, P.O. Box 24171, Dayton, Ohio, 45424-3613, or its Web site at https://www.cfnweb.com. Telephone: (937) 236-5433.
